Have you been dreaming up an epic Parade float, a Scarecrow family with a quirky story or been spending the last two years growing oversized vegetables to auction off at Ziegenmarkt?
The Barossa Vintage Festival team working behind the scenes are preparing for an exciting celebration this year and are now accepting registrations for celebrated community events within the festival programme.
Barossa Vintage Festival is now welcoming registrations from community groups, schools, businesses and organisations to support this event by simply getting involved.
Support from volunteers is the backbone of any major event and the Barossa Vintage festival is no different.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to, Vintage Festival Parade marshals, helping with the Barossa Scarecrow programme, Ziegenmarkt, conducting surveys during the Festival, distributing promotional material in the lead up the Festival and Vintage Festival Ball set up.
Inductions and training will be provided by Barossa Australia in the lead up to the Autumn festival.
The 2023 Parade will travel from Tanunda to Nuriootpa, taking in the full length of both main streets and Barossa Valley Way.
With the theme of ‘Old Roots, New Ways, there’s no limit to creativity when it comes to creating the ultimate Festival float.
“The Parade is a truly iconic Barossan event, put on by the community, for the community, and anyone who has ever participated will tell you how incredibly fun it is, too!” says convenor, Carla Wiese Smith.
Scarecrow Trail covenor, Adele Grieger said, “We love the community bond that’s so obvious through local participation, but even more so we appreciate the stories and memories this event generates”.
“Whether you want to build your own, or find them along the trail, join us to celebrate the creativity, ingenuity and artistry of the community, with straw-stuffed into weird, wacky and wonderful characters,” she added.
Register before March 5 to be featured on the Scarecrow Trail (both in print and online) and to be eligible for The Leader’s “People’s Choice Award”.
Scarecrows need to be installed by Sunday, March 26 to be part of the official judging.
And of course, there’s the Ziegenmarkt.
“Generation after generation come together to make this festival event happen and I’m excited to see what extraordinary creativity and flair will come to the fore from our auction items in 2023,” says Ziegenmarkt Convener, Julie Modistach.
“See yesteryear theatrics on display as local personalities auction off items paying homage to a tradition cultivated by the support of local businesses across the region”.
