Run, walk, eat and relax: Final day Festival events at Lyndoch

Run Around the Vines on the final day of the Barossa Vintage Festival is an event designed to appeal to everyone who enjoys the outdoors, serving as the perfect lead into the Great Vintage Picnic at the Lyndoch Village Green on April 27. 

“It's just over 5km and there’s really quite a lovely route… You start down virtually where the Great Vintage Picnic is on the Village Green and you run up through Altona, literally around the vines! There’s the most beautiful views around Lyndoch and you end up back at the Great Vintage Picnic,” explained Festival Co-Director, Rebecca Reynolds.

Building on the popular Punkt Zu Punkt event which has featured in past Vintage Festivals, Run Around the Vines is a more inclusive iteration which will suit people of all ages and abilities.

“It’s an opportunity for people who would like to run or walk or bring their dog, or whatever (they like); that really is the essence of it,” said Rebecca.

“It’s nice to have something that is a little bit ‘wellbeing’ and a little bit outside, and then we’ll have people hang around and enjoy the Great Vintage Picnic afterwards.”

Similar to a Parkrun event, it’s not a race to the finish line, just an opportunity to have fun individually, with friends or family or in teams.

Dressing up is also encouraged.

“We might give out some prizes for the fastest run and the best hat and that sort of thing, but it’s not a marathon!” said Rebecca, laughing.

“Matt Hale from Barossa Outdoors is helping put it together, and he’s got a great group of volunteers that he’s organising as well.”

True to the spirit of the 2025 Barossa Vintage Festival, Run Around the Vines is all about fun and community… and most importantly, a bacon and egg roll afterwards!
