Tuesday June 18 marked a significant moment in the history of the community as the Regional Council of Goyder and the Ngadjuri Nation Aboriginal Corporation came together to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on country in the Burra Council Chambers.
The MOU represents the partnership between the two organisations built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to a better future. It is a living document that will evolve as their relationship grows and acknowledges the overwhelming community support in the Goyder region that underscores the importance of the partnership.
Mayor Bill Gebhardt said, “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Ngadjuri Nation Aboriginal Corporation Board for their openness, wisdom, and collaboration. Their input has been invaluable, and their trust is deeply appreciated.”
Looking ahead, the Mayor concluded, “The journey ahead is bright, and together, the Regional Council of Goyder and the Ngadjuri Nation Aboriginal Corporation will make great strides. … We did not just sign a document, but we forged a path to a shared future.”
