The girls of the BLGW have done the region proud after winning this year's Bulldog Cup at X Convenience Oval at Elizabeth last night.

In the third year of the event, the Country team proved too strong for its Metro counter part, taking the team's first victory in the competition 4.3 (27) to 1.4 (10).

The Country girls had most of the ball in the first quarter but were unable to make the most of their chances, while a late Metro charge saw them hold the quarter time lead.

However from then on Country locked-down the Metro forwards, who were only able to add on two more behinds for the rest of the game, and kept fighting hard to maintain control over the game with a late snap kick sealing the victory.

Tanunda's Britt Watt was named best on ground for Country, with Angaston's Hayley Henke and Barossa District's Kayla Collis also among the standouts.

The Bulldog Cup has become a fun celebration of local footy, and is hosted by Central District Football Club to show off the best of its regional and metro areas talent outside of the SANFLW.
