It's time to dust of the boxes of Christmas decorations, pop-on a Santa hat and bring out the tinsel and string lights, with the return of the much-loved Barossa Co-op Light the Night competition.
Proudly presented by the Barossa Co-op in partnership with The Leader, the competition encourages residents to call on their Christmas spirit and roll up their sleeves.
Barossa Co-op’s Mitre 10 has already set the scene, said Stuart Jenkins, Barossa Co-op Home Business Leader, and the shelves are stocked full of Christmas lights and decorations.
“We’ve made a conscious effort this year to make sure we’ve got plenty of stock and a really wide range of options,” Stuart said.
“We started getting lights out in mid-September so people could get a head start, especially for those going all out with their displays.”
“We’ve seen a great response from the community already,” he added.
“It’s something that brings people together. From families decorating their homes, kids getting excited, and everyone enjoying the festive atmosphere.”
Stuart said the Barossa Co-op’s continued support of the event is something that they pride themselves on.
“Whether it’s the Spring Fair, Ladies’ Night or Halloween events, we love finding ways to give back to the community."
"Light the Night fits perfectly with that.”
“It’s something fun, it’s community-driven, and it really captures the magic of Christmas,” he said.
Registrations for Light the Night are now open and will close on November 26, with those interested in participating encouraged to sign up ahead of putting up their Christmas display.
Voting will commence in early December with winners announced in The Leader’s December 24 edition.
Maps featuring all registered addresses will be available in the December 3 edition of The Leader, making it easy for families to plan their festive light tours.
