The best of the BLGW was celebrated on Tuesday night, with premier Barossa women's football talent acknowledged for achievements both near and far.

The best of the BLGW was celebrated on Tuesday night, with premier Barossa women's football talent acknowledged for achievements both near and far.

Unfortunately the winner of the most prestigious award, the Senior Best and Fairest, was not in the room to collect her award, but Maddison Schmidt will still have the trophy to pick up once she returns from a trip overseas.

Luckily her mum Jerie was in the room and able to catch her on FaceTime and she was still able to see the standing ovation she received from the room.

The award comes after Maddison's first ever season playing football, and was well celebrated by her Gawler Central teammates.
