It's the little black book of discounts everyone has been waiting all year to see again!
The Leader Shop Local promotion begins next week, with 7,000 passports heading out into the hands of readers in the August 13 edition.
Heading into Spring, it's a great time of year to get out into the community and take advantage of many of the discounts on offer.
Your passport is your ticket to accessing the promotion, with each page featuring a different local business – simply take it in store to redeem the specific offer or discount, and have the page stamped as proof of your support.
Once you're finished shopping, enter your passport containing five or more stamps into an entry box before 12 noon September 24, and you will go into the draw to win $1,000 – it's our way of saying thank you for shopping local, and keeping the precious circular economy of our community flowing.
With 30 businesses participating in Shop Local this year, why not take the opportunity to be a 'tourist in your own town' and shop throughout the valley, collecting stamps as you go?
Or maybe there is a big ticket item or service that you've been holding out on - using a passport discount, it could be an ideal time to make your purchase.
Emma Norsworthy of fashion boutique With Emmy Loo in Tanunda, is making her debut in the promotion, offering a generous discount on her high quality range of clothing and footwear.
“I want to see people supporting local businesses in the Barossa to help the region grow and thrive,” Emma said of her reason behind joining the Shop Local promotion this year.
Luke Underdown of Beans and Cream, Tanunda who participated last year, said he found the promotion had been helpful with brand awareness.
“Last year we did it, and there were new people coming into the shop and trying our coffee or trying products for the first time in order to get their stamp," Luke shared.
“You know, there’s a chance to win $1,000, so it’s driven new business opportunities and has helped us with our own awareness.
“...It’s also something fun and interactive for the community to get involved with.”
The Leader Digital and Special Publications manager Jordan Stollznow said it was exciting to be bringing the passport back for its sixth year.
“With the cost of living continuing to be a consideration in everyone’s daily lives, it’s now more important than ever to be able to provide value to both the consumer and local businesses,” he said.
“Simply by shopping locally, consumers can save vital dollars through any one of the 30 special offers available in the passport.
“Furthermore, they are supporting local businesses by increasing the spend in our local community.. It’s a win-win, situation.
“Consumers are spoilt for choice with a wide and varied selection of offers. Whether it’s a great deal on your doggy daycare, a variety of homewares, retail and furniture specials, delicious coffee and cake offers or a discount on equipment hire to get those weekend jobs ticked off at home, there’s something for everyone."
