“I started the business in 1977 together with my parents. It was to be a sideline venture to supplement the vineyard and market gardening income.
“The demand for drip irrigation was increasing steadily, and in 1980 we introduced the Israeli drip irrigation technology to the Barossa.
“They were the world leaders in drip irrigation, and once we had aligned ourselves with their technology, we never looked back.
“Over the years we have had many people work within the business, too many to name individually. “Each one of them has helped shape the business into what it is today. Every person involved in our business has a very important role in achieving a result, whether they be an employee or contractor.
“We pride ourselves in being able to assist each client to achieve their desired result in the best possible way that we can. We may ask a lot of questions, but to get the best result we need to know many things that are specific to each client, we don’t generalise.”
“The Barossa region is very reliant on the wine industry. In one way or another, the Barossa residents all feed off the industry.
“When things are booming, we all benefit from direct or indirect support from the wine industry.
“At the moment the wine industry is hurting, so it is the locals who can support each other and the wine industry by keeping the money in the region.
“We all need each other, regardless of which way the tables have been turned.”
“We like to think that the service and products we supply to our clients help them achieve their goals in some small way – the products and services that we provide our clients with are largely unseen, and most times are used in the production of a product, not consumption.
“If we can assist our clients in achieving their goals in some way, the whole community can benefit at some point in time.”
“We have a policy that the job is done once and done correctly the first time.
“There are many ways that things can be achieved these days; there are more products available to the consumer than there is demand.
“Lots of these products will ‘do the job,’ but is it the correct item for the required application?
“We will always probe the client for as much information as possible and then select the correct item to service this application. It is the most efficient way to achieve a good result, one size does not fit all!”
“We offer a range of services to cater for our clients’ needs, from personalised design and advice, quality products and back up service including repairs and maintenance.”
“There are always challenges in business. They come in many forms, and some demand a higher level of attention than others.
“The biggest challenge at the moment would be the effect that the Chinese tariffs have had on the wine industry, but equally challenging, I think, is the lack of interest that the labour market has in the irrigation industry, particularly in the area of installation and servicing.
“Yes, we may get dirty at times, but it is a very diverse, and interesting job, with a great deal of satisfaction at the end.”
“We are currently running specials on domestic pumps and water filtration systems with 20 per cent discount during this promotion. If customers need a product outside this range, just come in and talk to us.”
