The names Kavel and Angas are always linked in the story of the Barossa's early foundations.

Pastor August Kavel was the leader of the first group of persecuted Lutherans who arrived in South Australia in 1838, and George Fife Angas was the English businessman who lent the money the Lutherans needed to pay for their passage.
