Barossa’s favourite newspaper undergoes digital re-awakening

2 min read

It is with great pleasure the team at The Leader announced the launch of its new look website, www.barossaleader.com.au today.

For 104 years, The Leader has faithfully served the Barossa community with integrity and dedication, and now, with a fresh generation of readers, it’s time for the masthead to shine online, as well as in print.

Behind the scenes over the past few months, many hours of work have gone into creating a news-serving website which complements the strength of  the newspaper and provides even greater choice for our audience.

Whether it’s ex-pats abroad keeping up with their community, or locals looking to read their news in a new way, it will be a fantastic resource.

The move to a subscriber based website is our commitment to local news on a new level.

While The Leader has served up local content via our website for many years, this has only been a selection of the weekly stories.

From today, we step forward, allowing access to all stories online in a fast, simple and effective way.

“News paywalls are an essential component in operating a healthy news website and your continued investment will help to maintain the high-quality local journalism that is essential in our democracy,” said Mr Darren Robinson, Director of Advertising Sales and Marketing.

“For a modest $2.50 per week subscription, you will receive full access to the website, including delivery of our in-demand E-edition, a digital replica of the weekly newspaper.

“For local news organisations to continue to thrive and support the number of journalists required to adequately cater for a growing community, I am confident that our competitive subscription model will prove very popular.”

To compliment the weekly articles, subscribers will also be able to access exclusive online content and local competitions.

Local businesses are also looking for ways to standout to consumers within the online space.

While social media and other forms of digital marketing help to address this, it’s all about offering a presence across multiple channels.

With a strong offering now available for local news via www.barossaleader.com.au, it makes perfect sense for a business to promote their products and services in this space.

Today’s launch is an exciting milestone in the history of  The Leader.

We look forward to sharing it with you.
